Charles W. ‘Bill’ Myers
Charles W. “Bill” Myers, 74, Syracuse, passed away at 3:24 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 16, 1944, in Charleston, W. Va. to Emory L. and Zelma M. (Hammack) Myers.
He graduated in 1962 from DuPont High School in Belle, W. Va. and formerly attended Big Bottom Baptist Church in Campbells Creek, W. Va. He was married Sept. 29, 1962, in Ligonier, to Vickie L. Fair, who preceded him on March 13, 2012. He then remarried on Oct. 25, 2014, in Syracuse, to Rita F. (Arnett) Grow, who survives.
He grew up in West Virginia until 1962 and then moved to Indiana. He spent most of his life in Noble, Elkhart and Kosciusko Counties of Indiana before moved to Syracuse in 1974 from Goshen. He retired in 2009 from Digger Specialties, Inc. in Bremen after six years and formerly worked at Sweet Lix in Syracuse for 19 years.
He is survived by his second wife, Rita Myers; three daughters: Tina (Tyson) Barnett, Warsaw; Shelia (Steve) Charlton, Syracuse; and Karen Curry, Syracuse; step-children: Jenny Mignery, Syracuse; Johnny (Elizabeth) Arnett and Daniel Arnett, both of Silver Lake; four grandchildren: Crystal Lynn Wade, Colette Lynn Myers, William M. Mignery and Charles Andrew Curry; eight step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren; brother: Ralph (Angela) Myers, Charleston, W. Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Vickie Myers, and two brothers, Darrell and Melvin Myers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St, Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the Church of God in North Webster officiating. Burial will follow services in the Stoney Point Cemetery near Clunette.
