Earl Leroy Evans
Earl Leroy Evans, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Warsaw to Roy and Lizzie (Foreman) Evans.
He was a lifetime area resident and attended Claypool schools. He served in the Navy during World War II (1944-1946) and after his honorable discharge he was a dealer in livestock (his dream job) until 1966. On Aug. 31, 1946 he married Betty J. Galbreath, who preceded him Nov. 8, 2000. He worked as a construction worker until his retirement in 1986. He received an honorary high school diploma from Warsaw Community Schools in November 2001 and was recognized as the Kosciusko County veteran of the month on Oct. 3, 2017. He loved playing cards with his family and anything to do with livestock and farming. In his last few years he enjoyed riding in the car just looking over the landscape.
He was a member of the Indiana Laborers and the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Warsaw.
He is survived by his four children: Michael (Carole) Evans, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Rebecca Huff, Gregory (Lana O’Connell) Evans, and ReNae Feldman, Warsaw; grandchildren: Randa (Rick) Pearl, Warsaw; Timothy (Angela) Evans, Sarah (Matt) Henson, Lisa (Mark) Lawson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Jillian Zwick, Fort Wayne, and Kevin Feldman, Lochbuie, Colo. He had 13 great-grandchildren. Brother; Ralph Evans, sisters; Thelma Boyer, Lillian Lozier, Warsaw and Mary Beth (John) Camden, Pierceton.
Besides his wife Betty Evans, he was preceded in death by a grandson Ryan Huff, brothers; Charles and Russell, sisters; Mae Beigh, Ruby Drane, and Julia Morts.
A private military graveside service will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton. Preferred memorials may be given to the Harbor Light Hospice, 1820 E Day Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
