Juan M. Carvajal
Juan M. Carvajal, 88, Milford, passed away quietly at 2:22 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at his home from pancreatic cancer. He was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Realitos, Texas, along with his twin brother, Rafael, to Juan and Rafaela (Saenz) Carvajal. At age 7 he was left orphaned and was adopted and raised by Uvillado & Prajedes (Carvajal) Saenz.
He attended Benavides District School in Benavides, Texas and moved to Milford area in August 1967 from Corpus Christi, Texas. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force where he was a chauffeur for one of the generals. He enjoyed flying throughout his life, grew up on a ranch, and loved motorcycles. He enjoyed politics and had hosted Senator Birch Bayh and Senator Joe Donnelly as guests in his home. He retired from Smoker Craft in New Paris after 30 years.
He formerly attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Milford and Warsaw.
He is survived by two daughters: Kelly “P.K.” Carvajal and Bea (Tom) Eisenhour, Goshen; four sons: Raul O. Carvajal, Laredo, Texas; Uvillado “Uvi” Carvajal, Semonole, Fla.; Juan J. Carvajal, West Mont, Ill.; and Rafael (Joan) Carvajal, Clearwater, Fla.; 21 grandchildrena and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren: Sheila K. Gay, Amy Jo Gay-Hawks, and Colin J. Good; sister, Guadalupe Villareal; four brothers: Rafael (twin brother), Heriberto, Pedro, and Oscar Carvajal; half-sister: Conception, and half-brother, Victor.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with grandson, Jesse Eisenhour officiating.
