Claypool Town Council Discusses Lagoon Treatment System, Officer Body Cameras
CLAYPOOL — Business at the Claypool Town Council meeting Tuesday, Sept. 18, focused on a water treatment system and new in-car and body cameras for Claypool police officers.
Jeff Hersha, associate and project manager for Jones and Henry Engineers, Ltd., Fort Wayne, was present at the meeting. The work on the water, or lagoon, treatment system is expected to start at the beginning of October. The council accepted a bid of $49,950 for the work. The council also approved the continuation of its agreement with Jones and Henry Engineers.
Town Marshal Ben Sanders presented two quotes to the council for WatchGuard in-car and body cameras. Currently, one of the police department’s cameras is inoperable.
Sanders emphasized the importance of needing functional cameras at all times.
“To me, it’s a safety issue,” said Sanders. “And it’s not just about safety, but liability issues as well.”
The council approved the purchase of new WatchGuard cameras for the Claypool Police Department.
