Volleyball Results: Sept. 17
WAWASEE 3, WHITKO 0
Wawasee moved above .500 with a straight set win at Whitko Monday night.
Wawasee kept its edge in all three games, winning 25-15, 25-16, 25-16.
Elizabeth Kleopfer, after earning All-Tourney honors at the Wawasee Invite over the weekend, continued her strong play with 17 assists, eight digs, seven assists and two aces. Hannah Gaerte and Madison Simmons each had eight kills, Brooke Heche and Peyton Rookstool combined for 18 digs, Ava Rush added five kills and Ashley Vazquez had seven helpers.
Wawasee (10-9) will take on Northern Lakes Conference rival Warsaw Thursday.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE 2, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 1
Lakeview struggled to knock off a scrappy LCA squad 20-25, 25-17, 15-8. Mallory Mulligan had six kills and an ace and Tessa Graney had 10 aces and six assists for the Tigers. Maddie Silveus had six kills and Madi Sell added two kills and two aces for the Cougars.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE 2, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0
LCA also pushed Lakeview but the Tigers held on for a 25-14, 25-24 win in the junior game.
Clara Porter had four aces, six assists and a kill to lead the Tigers. Collette Blackburn added four kills and three aces, and Kenzie Chivington had four assists, three aces, and three kills.
PLYMOUTH 8TH GRADE 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Plymouth roared back to trump Valley 24-25, 25-11, 25-9. Shaylin Wilcox had seven kills and Abby Koch eight assists for the Lady Vikings.
PLYMOUTH 7TH GRADE 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Plymouth held off Valley 16-25, 25-15, 15-6. Jessa Schroeder led the Valley team with six kills and two aces.
PLYMOUTH 6TH GRADE 4-1 VERSUS TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE
Rochester used a lot of momentum to take four of five sixth grade contests against Tippecanoe Valley. Rochester ‘A’ beat Valley 25-9 and 25-19. Avery Wagoner, Ella Sandbakken and Jetta Hughes all scored three points for Valley. The Rochester ‘B’ lost to Valley 25-16 in game one, but came back to win 25-22 and 15-12. Taylor McGriff had eight points to lead Valley, Elise Smith chipping in six points.
RIVERSIDE 3-1 VERSUS WAWASEE 6TH GRADE
Riverside got off to a quick start in defeating Wawasee’s sixth grade ‘A’ team 25-8 only for Wawasee to rally for a 25-20 win in the second game. The Riverside ‘B’ team won both games 25-20.
