MANCHESTER 5, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 1
It was all rosy for LCA in the first 25 minutes against Manchester. Not so much after that.
The Squires gave up a goal to Parker Stewart in the third minute of the contest Tuesday, but went on to score the game’s final five goals.
Brandon Wagoner and Harley Kruschwitz each scored two goals and Caleb Stout added the other for the Class 2-A No. 14 Squires. Manchester (9-0) dominated in shots, 17-4, forcing Remington Swanson into 12 saves.
“Manchester is an offensive juggernaut, they put a lot of pressure on our backline and we didn’t handle it as well as I would’ve liked,” said LCA head coach Dan Miller. “We will learn from our mistakes in this game and get better. Parker Stewart was a handful tonight and fully deserved a goal. Credit Manchester, they are good side, and this game will serve as a learning tool as we move into the final weeks of the season.”
LCA (8-3-1) wraps up its road schedule and will have its final three matches at home, beginning Thursday with Tippecanoe Valley.
GOSHEN 4, WAWASEE 1
Wawasee was note able to slow down the potent RedHawks in Northern Lakes Conference play in Goshen.
Class 3-A No. 7 Goshen (8-3-1, 3-2-1 NLC) had four different players find the net in Cruz Garcia, Alex Munn, Ciro Aguilar and Fernando Quevedo. Chris Pena scored unassisted for the Warriors.
Dillon Drake was forced into making 19 saves for Wawasee.
“Wawasee played with great passion and energy against a very talented NLC team,” said Wwasee hed coach Jordan Sharp. “We were in the fight the whole game. Very proud of the boys, they showed a toughness that I’ve not seen out of them yet this season.”
Goshen’s JV won by an 8-0 count.
Wawasee (3-9, 0-4 NLC) will take on Lakeland Thursday.
ELKHART MEMORIAL 2, NORTHWOOD 1
Felipe Zendejas had a goal and an assist to lift Memorial to a win in Nappanee.
Joseph Collins also scored for Class 3-A No. 20 Memorial (8-3-1, 4-1-1 NLC), which saw teammate Brandon Vargas leave the game in the 70th minute with a serious injury.
Andy Duran scored off an assist from Landon Parker for NorthWood’s lone tally of the match.
Luke Lingle made six stops for the Panthers, Bryan Guerrero interrupted 10 shots between the pipes for the Chargers.
The NorthWood JV rallied from down 2-0 to come back for a 4-2 win over Memorial.
NorthWood (5-6-1, 1-5 NLC) will host Class 2-A No. 7 Fort Wayne Concordia on Saturday.
