John Kimes — UPDATED
John Kimes, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 12:50 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 in Vibra Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born July 26, 1939, in Warsaw to M. John and Ruby (Jones) Kimes.
He was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident. John was united in marriage to Eilene Leckrone on June 1, 1963, in Silver Lake. He was formerly employed by RR Donnelly of Warsaw and retired with 42 years of service as a Photography Retoucher Technician. He was a former member of the Claypool Lions Club, RR Donnelly Club, a 4-H leader for 12 years and a longtime 4-H member, the Steer Inn and Lantern Coffee Clubs, Kosciusko Coon Hunters Club and the Claypool Conservation Club. Most notably, he was a former Fire Chief and Volunteer for the Claypool Fire Department for 30 years. In addition to his social affiliations, he was an avid hunter, bowler and golfer.
Survivors include his wife Eilene, Warsaw; children: Ramona Kimes, Claypool; Norma (Stephen) Kimes Bauer, Mentone; and Douglas Kimes, Warsaw; sister: Jane (George) Scott, Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Ryan (Kendra) Kimes, Carissa Kimes, Megan Bauer, Delilah Kimes, Michael, Matthew and Eric Bauer; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation hours are scheduled from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. His funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Funeral Chapel. Pastors Butch Troke and Charlie Trout will officiate the service with interment in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
