Volleyball Results: Sept. 13
WAWASEE 3, CONCORD 0
Wawasee’s ascent in the Northern Lakes Conference continued in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-19 win over the visiting Minutemen.
Madison Simmons was all over the court for the Lady Warriors, recording 12 kills, nine digs and seven aces as Wawasee won its second straight NLC contest. Elizabeth Kleopfer had 25 assists and seven digs, and Brooke Heche added a team-high 12 digs.
The Wawasee JV moved to 12-3 overall with a 25-14, 25-22 victory over Concord. Delaney Hare had 11 digs and three kills while Emma Dippon had five aces and three kills and Kai Jamora had eight digs and seven assists.
Wawasee’s freshman team (11-4) split its two games, beating Lakeland in three and losing to Concord in three. The 25-22, 25-15, 15-11 win over Lakeland had Laney Gross record 12 assists, seven kills, five aces and three digs. In the 25-7, 18-25, 13-15 loss to Concord, Dylan Konieczny posted six kills and four digs while Talia Kuhl and Gloria Slabaugh combined for 28 digs.
Wawasee (7-7, 2-1 NLC) will host its annual Wawasee Invite on Saturday.
BETHANY CHRISTIAN 3, TRITON 1
Triton couldn’t find the magic on the road Thursday night in the Mennolands.
Bethany got out quickly with a 25-11 game one win, but Triton responded with a 25-23 win in game two. Bethany recovered to close out the match 25-18, 25-15.
Stat leaders for Triton included Lexia Hostrawser with eight kills, Dylanie Miller with 17 assists, Molly McFarland with 10 digs and Alyxa Viers with nine digs and three aces.
The Triton JV won 25-12, 25-14.
Triton (3-12) will visit Winamac Tuesday in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play.
ELKHART MEMORIAL 3, NORTHWOOD 0
A competitive match had Elkhart Memorial close out NorthWood 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 Thursday at Memorial.
Stat leaders for NorthWood included Maddy Payne with 12 kills and two blocks, Whitney Gessinger with 12 digs, Caroline Mullet with 31 assists, Gracie Clark with seven digs, Kate Rulli with four blocks and Alea Minnich with six kills.
The win for Memorial moves them to 4-1 in the NLC and a half game behind Plymouth, which is 4-0 after beating Warsaw Thursday. NorthWood falls to 1-2 in the NLC and 16-6 overall. The Panthers will host Goshen Tuesday.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE 2, WAWASEE 0
Lakeview added another win to its résumé with a 25-12, 25-22 win over Wawasee.
Tessa Graney had eight assists, five aces and two kills and Caitlyn Patrick added five kills, four assists, two aces, a dig and a block. Mallory Mulligan added five kills.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE 2, WAWASEE 0
Lakeview moved to 10-2 overall with a 25-13, 25-21 win over Wawasee.
Sadie Humbarger led Lakeview with six kills and Kenzie Chivington had five aces, five assists and a kill.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE B 2, MENTONE A 1
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE B 2, MENTONE B 0
Tippecanoe Valley won two games Thursday, beating the Mentone A team 25-11, 21-25, 15-8. Karegan Callahan led the Valley team with nine points scored and two digs while Carley Snyder had five points.
The Valley B beat Mentone B 25-11, 25-11. Temperance Prater had 10 points, Kacie Davis nine points and Selena Stahl six points for Valley.
