Winona Lake Woman Arrested After Officers Respond To Drug Overdose Death
WARSAW — A Winona Lake woman was arrested with drug charges after officers responded to a report of a drug overdose death at a hospital.
Janelle Nicole McClellan, 24, 1202 Wooster Road 68, Winona Lake, is being charged with two counts of conspiring to commit a felony, both level 5 felonies; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony.
On Monday, Sept. 10, officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a possible drug overdose death at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the deceased male was brought to the hospital in a vehicle operated by a female later identified as McClellan.
A Warsaw police officer drove to the male’s last known address and talked with McClellan. The owner of the vehicle gave officers permission to search the vehicle. While searching, officers located a black makeup bag containing several small Ziploc bags, a cut red straw, and a small piece of cotton that tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.
An officer spoke with a female witness who provided documentation of a phone call and text from McClellan in regards to the male overdosing.
Search warrants were obtained after McClellan denied consent for the officers to search her two cell phones. Officers located several conversations on McClellan’s phone regarding her purchasing methamphetamine and heroin with the intent to resell it to another person.
McClellan was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 10, with a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
