Virginia Rose Fulford
Virginia Rose Fulford, 87, Ligonier, passed Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Avalon Village in Ligonier. She was born June 1, 1931, the daughter of Howard Winfield and Leona (Maugherman) Carpenter in Steuben County. On June 4, 1950, she married Paul A. Fulford. He has since preceded in her death on June 30, 2018.
Survivors include her three children: Barry A. (Vonzeal) Fulford, Albion; Terry (Susan) Fulford, North Webster; and Cyndi (Keith) Yoder, Ligonier; six grandchildren: Jason, Tamara, Melissa, Michael, Caitie, and Anna; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and two siblings: Duane Ward, Montpelier, Ohio; Darlene (Dwight) Sickmiller, Angola; one half brother, Arthur J. (Betty) Carpenter Sr., Bloomington; along with many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 68 years, Paul A. Fulford; three siblings, Bernadetta Carpenter, Larry Carpenter, Doreatha Tadsen; along with a granddaughter, Tiffany Ritter.
Virginia Fulford retired in 1993 from Johnson Controls after 38 years of faithful service. Following her retirement, she enjoyed wintering in “Frost Proof” Florida with her husband for many years. Other things she liked to do included: playing BINGO, many types of card games, puzzle books, golfing, and bowling. Making crafts and reading is how she spent her spare time as well. She was a member of the Wawaka United Methodist Church and a past member of the Sparta Conservation Club in Kimmell, IN. Her family will remember her as the true Matriarch who always knew what you were up to, along with being a professional Avon Collector. More than anything, she loved her family, especially all of her grandchildren. Everyone will miss her ability of always taking care of her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in Virginia’s honor from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767.
A funeral servicewill take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier. Pastor Dave Hackney will officiate. An additional hour of visitation for friends and family to gather will be from 10 a.m.-11 a.m., prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Cosperville Cemetery in Cosperville.
