Genevieve McLallin
Genevieve “Genny” McLallin, 87, Kimmell, passed away at 6:05 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at North Ridge Village, Albion. She was born Oct. 23, 1930, the daughter of Herbert and Maxine (Haverty) Johnson in College Corner. On Jan. 19, 1952, she married Lewis J. McLallin.
She was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church for over 70 years and was a licensed insurance and real estate agent. She worked for Wirk Garment and later for Carson, Edwards, and McLallin Insurance for many years. She eventually purchased the business, at which time the business became known as Wolf Lake Insurance. She continued in the business with her daughter until her retirement. She loved to travel, quilt, play games, and was an avid reader. Above all else, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lewis J. McLallin of Kimmell; three daughters: Carol (Gary) Seitz, The Villages, Fla.; Peggy (Daryl) Daniels, Syracuse; and Karen (Roger) Stahly, Kimmell; five grandchildren: Mike (Brandi) Edsall, Kimmell; Angie (Brad) Franklin, Kimmell; Leah (Edward) Payne, Niles, Ill.; Kevin (Kathryn) Seitz, Lancaster, Ohio; and Kari (Brad) Stabler, Ligonier; ten great-grandchildren; along with a sister, Norma (Dick) Young of Sarasota, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kay Edsall; a grandson; and a brother, Richard Johnson.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m., at Wolf Lake Baptist Church, Sunday, Sept. 16. Pastor Dan Carlson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
Family and friends will be received from 3-7 p.m., Saturday Sept. 15, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767.
