Volleyball Results: Sept. 10
WESTVIEW 3, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee volleyball took a three-set loss to Westview on the road Monday night, 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.
Hannah Gaerte finished with a balanced eight kills and eight digs for the Lady Warriors, while Peyton Rookstool and Janae Hapner tallied four and three kills, respectively. Brooke Heche led the team defensively with 13 digs, followed by Madi Simmons’ 12, while Elizabeth Kleopher passed out 15 assists.
Wawasee’s varsity dipped to 6-7 with the result.
The Wawasee JV won their match with Westview, 25-15, 25-22.
Leslie Vazquez recorded six kills and three digs, Morgan Heche notched five kills, five digs and three aces, and Kai Jamora set 11 assists with three digs to lead the Lady Warrior JV, which moved to 11-3.
Wawasee hosts Concord in an NLC match Thursday night.
NORTHWOOD 3, SOUTH BEND RILEY 0
NorthWood scored a quick win over visiting Riley in three lopsided sets Monday, 25-7, 25-8, 25-5.
Maddy Payne finished with 11 kills, and Riley Graber recorded seven kills to lead the Lady Panthers’ attack. Ali Knepp served up seven aces, and Whitney Gessinger tallied four. Gessinger also recorded five digs and passed out a prolific 31 assists. Kate Rulli made three blocks for NorthWood.
The Panthers play an NLC match at Elkhart Memorial Thursday.
PENN 3, WARSAW 0
Warsaw lost 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 as the battle with visiting Penn went the Kingsmen’s way Monday.
Kacy Bragg led the Lady Tigers with 21 assists, three aces and seven kills. Kennedy Lauck finished with eight kills and 11 blocks, and Kylie Smith and Erin Peugh both dug up eight balls.
Warsaw plays Columbia City Tuesday.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 3, COLUMBIA CITY 1
Tippy Valley rallied from a first-game loss to down the Eagles in four tightly-contested sets, 15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 26-24 Monday.
The JV Lady Vikings fell in two, meanwhile, 25-21, 25-23.
The varsity Vikings improve to 10-7. The JV slips to 13-5. Statistics from the match were unavailable.
Valley hosts LaVille Tuesday.
WAWASEE 7TH GRADE 2, NORTHWOOD 7TH GRADE 0
The Lady Warriors defeated NorthWood Middle School in straight sets Monday. They focused on serving and worked as a team in the win.
