North Webster Chamber Plans For The Future
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce worked on future projects at its well attended meeting Monday, Sept. 10, at its office in the Tippecanoe Township Building. Plans were laid out for finalizing board of directors and officer ballots, membership dues, future Members of the Month, Third Thursday Members After Hours, 2019-20 North Webster Community Guides and fall beautification of downtown.
President Jim Smith, Loose Moose Motorsports, informed ballots will be sent out to the entire membership for voting. Deadline to return ballots is the beginning of the next chamber meeting noon Monday, Oct. 8, in the chamber office.
Membership dues are taking a new turn for 2019 as had been previously voted upon noted Secretary Susan Stump, The Papers. Forms and notices will be sent stating membership will automatically be renewed unless the chamber is otherwise notified. Dues must be paid by Feb. 15.
Members will be able to update the data for their business or organization. Mailings will go out by Dec. 1. There is a discount if membership is paid for by Dec. 31.
Vice President Amanda Meerzo, Mohawk Piers, announced Members of the Month had been completed through 2018. Nominations and voting were completed online. Each will receive the sign and have photos and brief blurbs in the chamber newsletter and The Mail-Journal’s Heart of the Lakes column about the North Webster area. The member will also be featured on InkFreeNews.com, a daily digital newspaper for Kosciusko County and surrounding areas.
The first featured member for the business after hours event, Third Thursday, will be Barbee Landing. It will coincide with the ribbon cutting for new management. Details will be sent via email to the membership. RSVPs will be requested to help hosts plan. Mindy Scaggs, Re/Max Lakes REALTORS, is in charge of arrangements.
Details were discussed and put in place by those attending regarding the publication of the next North Webster Community Guide. Membership voted to move the publication date ahead to April 15. Meerzo pointed out many visitors start arriving in April. It was agreed Feb. 15 remain the deadline to pay dues for ad inclusion for members. Only chamber members can advertise in the community guide.
The board of directors approved the replacement of the flowers next to the benches with potted mums. Ron Erb, Webster Lake Conservation Association, agreed to return the current pots to Clayton’s Garden Center for use next year. Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations, will order mum plants and have them placed for a fall beautification project of the downtown business area.
The next meeting will be held noon Monday, Oct. 8, at the chamber office, Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St. All members and prospective members are welcome to attend. Bringing lunch is optional.
