Tennis Results: Sept. 10
NORTHWOOD 3, WESTVIEW 2
NorthWood won three-setters at both 1 doubles and 3 singles, and the Panthers handed host Westview a 3-2 loss Monday evening.
Trajan Schwartz and Jack Wysong held off Brandon Eash and Elijah Hostetler, 6-0, 1-6, 6-2, and Landon Holland battled back from a first-set loss to beat Kendall Schwartz, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 and give the Panthers their third point. Ben Vincent put away Justin Schwartz, 6-2, 6-0 at 2 singles for NorthWood’s first point.
Grant Topping and Dawson Bley came up short in yet another three-setter versus Will Clark and Brady Hostetler at 2 doubs, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Wes Troyer fell 6-4, 7-5 to Kurt Davis at 1 singles.
NorthWood’s JV lost to Westview, 4-2. Chase Horner and the doubles tandem of Andrew McCoy and Treyton Martin were the JV Panthers’ winners.
The Panther varsity moves to 7-3 overall. NorthWood hosts Northridge in a Northern Lakes Conference match Tuesday night.
PLYMOUTH 7, TRITON 0
Triton was shut out in a uniquely-formatted meet with sectional rival Plymouth as the teams finished a match cut short on Aug. 29 Monday.
Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules lost the most competitive match at 2 doubles, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Drew Harrell and Grant Houin. Grant Eib and Trevor Miller took four games from Shaun Grantz and Hugh Smith at 3 doubles before succumbing 6-3, 6-1. Connor Large lost 6-3, 6-0 to Andy Rostron at 2 singles, and Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler fell 6-2, 6-0 to Clay Hilliard and Adam Hunter at 1 doubles.
Chase Whitbrew and Gavin Butler lost 0-0 to Kyle Cox and Tanner Medina at 4 doubles, and John Gardner lost 6-0, 6-0 to Mitch Rose at 1 singles.
Triton slipped to 4-9 with the result. The Trojans travel to LaVille for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference meet Tuesday.
ROCHESTER 5, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
Tippecanoe Valley lost a 5-0 meeting with Three Rivers Conference foe Rochester at home Monday.
Connor Frentzel took five games in the second set but lost 6-0, 7-5 at 2 singles. Ethan Yates lost 6-4, 6-3 at 3 singles, and Payton Mills fell 6-3, 6-4 at 1 singles in a trio of competitive matches.
The Vikings forfeited both doubles points.
Valley travels to Maconaquah Wednesday.
