Know When To Go: When To Utilize Emergency Room Services
WARSAW — Have you ever had uncertainty about where you should go for care when your doctor’s office is closed? When are symptoms severe enough to warrant a visit to the emergency room?
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, most visits to the emergency room occur because the doctor’s office is closed. But of those patients seeking medical attention late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, 48 percent are not admitted to the hospital. Many people use the ER as a place to receive after-hours care for minor illnesses or injuries without knowing they have other care options or realizing the high cost that may be incurred from their visit.
From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Parkview Warsaw Center for Healthy Living, join Dr. Jon N. Winther, professional emergency physicians medicine, Parkview Warsaw and Rachel Buckholz, RN, emergency department nurse, Parkview Warsaw, as they discuss when is the right to visit the ER and other options that exist for care. Learn which symptoms are best evaluated in a hospital setting versus an urgent care clinic and when it is important to call 911.
There is no cost to attend the presentation but registration is required. To reserve your seat, please call (260) 266-6500 or (844) 835-0003. Parkview Warsaw Center for Healthy Living is located inside the Parkview Warsaw YMCA at 1305 Mariners Drive, Warsaw.
