GOSHEN 3, NORTHWOOD 2
NorthWood came close to handing Goshen its first loss of the season, but Carlos Lichty claimed a three-set victory over Landon Holland at 3 singles, 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4, and the RedHawks held off their Northern Lakes Conference rivals at home Thursday.
Wes Troyer topped Ryan Harmelink 6-4,7-6(3) at 1 singles, and Ben Vincent defeated Wes Beck 7-5, 6-2 at 2 singles in the Panthers’ two victories.
Trajan Schwartz and Jack Wysong lost to Ben Bontrager-Singer and Diego Torres 6-3, 7-5 at 1 doubles, and Grant Topping and Dawson Bley lost to Axel Brown and Drake Crowder 6-3, 6-4 at 2 doubles.
NorthWood’s JV lost another close one, 4-3. JV winners for the Panthers were Chase Horner, Nate Clickovich and Wes Steiner and Karson Kirby.
The Panthers varsity slipped to 5-3 overall and an even 2-2 in NLC play. They play at Westview next Monday.
NORTHRIDGE 5, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee was shut out by Northridge Thursday in Middlebury.
Jacob Krugman and Grant Brooks were competitive in a 7-5, 6-3 loss to Brant Brouillette and Cole Miller at 1 doubles, but the Warriors were unable to take a single game from Ridge on the other four varsity courts.
Zach Leedy lost to Gabe Rodino at 1 singles, Graham Perek fell to Cooper Tavernier at 2 singles, Colin Rhoades lost to Avery Mantyla at 3 singles, and Taylor Fiedeke and Zeke Keim fell to Aaron Cripe and Evan May at 2 doubles, all by 6-0, 6-0 decisions.
Wawasee’s JV fell 4-0 at the meet.
The Warriors host Elkhart Christian Academy Monday.
