Garl P. Young
Garl P. “Pete” Young, 95, North Manchester, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born July 4, 1923, in Wabash County, to Otto P. and Mabel E. (Wall) Young.
Garl “Pete” married Veradawn Bashore on July 15, 1945. She passed away May 16, 1996. Spending most of his life in North Manchester, he moved to Warsaw in 1967 then moving back to North Manchester in 2003. he had a passion for motorcycles and was an avid outdoors-man including his love for fishing. Always working with his hands, he built birdhouses and always making little improvements to his home. His positive energy energy and never having a negative bone in his body was evident to all who knew him. He loved his grandson and great-grandchildren. From 1955-1967, Mr. Young was employed with the former Pyramid Oil Co. in North Manchester and was employed with Kosciusko County Highway Department from 1967 until his retirement in 1988.
Pete Young is survived by his son Lennie Lee (Sandra) Young, Warsaw; one grandchild Adam (Latasha) Young, Claypool; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers Paul Young and Howard Young, three sisters Agatha Hippensteel, Wanda Parr, and Juanita Bechtold.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Peabody Chapel, 400 West 7th Street, North Manchester, IN 46962. Friends and family may call from noon-2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Peabody Chapel. Pastor David Crowley will officiate and burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
