Panthers Celebrate Senior Night With Record Round
NAPPANEE — NorthWood’s girls golf team honored seniors MacKenzie Weaver and Abby Slabaugh, and the Lady Panthers broke their school record in a dual meet at McCormick Creek Wednesday.
The Panthers fired a 157 — four strokes better than the previous program record, shot in 2015 — well below Mishawaka’s 260. Cybil Stillson went low with a score of 38, and Weaver was close behind with a 39. Slabaugh and Delaney Davis both carded 40, and Kirsten Schrock’s 42 was the team’s fifth score.
NorthWood honored Weaver and Slabaugh on Senior Night, both four-year letter winners who have played in every varsity lineup since entering as freshmen and helping the team to a record of 43-0 in dual meets in that span.
Mishawaka was led by Kaitlyn Kramer’s 59. Grace Vandenburg posted 63, Abby Mueller posted 64, Sabrina Line shot 74, and Liv Stamm carded 76.
NorthWood’s JV was paced by Breanna Goss’ strong 40. Kylee Gall shot 44, Abigail Richner turned in a 45, and Makenna Gall shot 49.
Next up for NorthWood are the Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Black Squirrel in Goshen Saturday starting at noon. The Panthers are seeking the outright NLC title after another undefeated run through the round robin, their seventh straight conference championship.
