Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:51 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, North Syracuse-Webster Road, west of North CR 700E, North Webster. Driver: Eric M. Sawyer, 25, Eagle Street, Warsaw. Sawyer told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on North Syracuse-Webster Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway, travel down an embankment and hit a stump. Damage up to $10,000.
8:57 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, West CR 1350N, west of North CR 500W, Milford. Driver: Carl W. Slabaugh, 20, West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Slabaugh told police he was driving his vehicle west on CR 1350N when a deer entered the roadway, resulting in a one-vehicle collision. Damage up to $2,500.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:23 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, West Waubee Road, west of North SR 15, Milford. Driver: Deanna E. Beckner, 25, North Carlyle Street, Columbia City. Beckner told police she was driving her car westbound on Waubee Road when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, SR 25, east of South Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Driver: Allen J. Hodge, 39, South Manns Road, Claypool. Hodge told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on SR 25 when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $2,500.
6:04 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, East Center Street, north of North Scott Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kevin B. Marsh, 25, West Union Street, Ligonier; Robin S. Seitner, 47, West SR 25, Mentone. Marsh told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on East Center Street and as he approached the intersection with Scott Street, did not notice the light had turned red. Upon proceeding into the intersection, Marsh’s vehicle collided with Seitner’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
5:16 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, US 30, east of Anchorage Road. Drivers: Ruby G. Ayala, 18, West Old Road 30, Warsaw; Aireeal M. Webb, 25, Brentwood Drive, Akron. Ayala told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 and approached the intersection with Anchorage Road. She said she began to slow her vehicle but was unable to stop in time to avoid a rear-end collision with Webb’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:27 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, SR 15, south of Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Ty R. Shepherd, 49, South Julian Drive, Warsaw; Kimberly N. Silveus, 37, North Tamarack Street, Warsaw. Shepherd told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 and came to a stop behind Silveus’s vehicle. He said that his dog spilled a drink in his center console and he leaned down to clean it up. He said that when the light turned green, he accelerated and when he looked up, he was approaching the other vehicle and was not able to stop in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $5,000.
