Vera O. Gaff
Vera O. Gaff, 89, Warsaw, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Gaff was born in Richmond, Aug. 26, 1929, the oldest daughter of Oscar and Mary Macy. A graduate of Wolf Lake High School, she married Jesse L Gaff on Oct. 22, 1947. Together for 62 years, they raised three children and were active members of the local community.
A founding member of the Warsaw Rifle & Pistol Club, Mrs. Gaff was a competitive shooter and NRA certified riflery instructor. She retired from Zimmer after ten years of service and was a member of Warsaw Church of God.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse L Gaff, and her son, Roger L Gaff, both of Warsaw; and one brother, Charles Macy.
She is survived by her brother, Tom Macy (Viola), Columbia City; and sister, Melanie Ramey (Robin), Ash Grove, Mo. Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Dena Walker (Douglas), Richmond, Va.; and Jo Ellen Smith (Terry), Warsaw. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt love and gratitude to Pam Brandon, Mrs. Gaff’s devoted longtime caregiver and friend, for filling her later years with love, laughter and purpose.
Vera Gaff will be remembered by her family and friends for her quick sense of humor, the tremendous pride she had in her kids and grandkids, and her ability to find the silver lining in any cloud. She was a talented artist, a caring friend and a gifted storyteller. Every stranger was simply a friend she hadn’t shown her grandkids to yet.
Her life was lived with courage, grit, humor and overflowing love. The world is better because she lived, and her passing leaves a space in the hearts of her family that will never be filled.
Viewing and visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Tim Kumfer will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
