Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges
NORTH WEBSTER — A North Webster man is facing charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs.
Jordan S. Brinegar, 24, 712 S. Dixie Drive, North Webster, is being charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 17 an officer with the Warsaw Police Department observed a vehicle cross the center line on CR 350W. The officer initiated a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle were two males. Brinegar was identified as the passenger.
Upon speaking with the individuals, the officer noticed that both males were exhibiting nervous behavior and visibly shaking. A canine unit arrived on scene and performed an outer air search of the vehicle. The canine unit made a positive alert to the presence of illegal drugs. The vehicle was searched at that time.
During the search of the vehicle, officers found multiple metal spoons with residue and multiple syringes. One of the spoons was field-tested, with the result being positive for heroin. The two men were then searched. A small plastic bag containing residue that field-tested positive for heroin was located on Brinegar.
Brinegar was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 17 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
