Warsaw Man Arrested For Strangling Female
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after a female victim said he strangled her.
John F. Gardner, 37, 322 Rattington Circle, Warsaw, is being charged with domestic battery in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 20, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a domestic abuse complaint. A female victim advised that Gardner became frustrated and put both his hands around her neck. The female stated this impeded her ability to breath. The officer observed light red marks on both sides of the female’s neck.
A child was present at the time of the altercation. The minor told the officer that he observed Gardner put his hand’s around the female’s neck and push her down on the couch.
The officer spoke with Gardner. The officer told Gardner that the female stated he put both hands around her neck and pinned her to the couch. Gardner responded by saying “Okay.” The officer then stated that the female said he was choking her to the point she couldn’t breathe. Gardner again replied with, “Okay.”
Gardner was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 20, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. He has an initial hearing scheduled for Sept. 13.
