Leesburg Woman Arrested After Shoplifting, Returning Stolen Items For Refund
LEESBURG — A Leesburg woman was arrested after reportedly stealing items from a Dollar General store and later returning to the store to request a refund for the items.
Tami Marie Zurzolo, 46, 3904 E. Armstrong Road, Leesburg, is being charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 19, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a theft at a Dollar General store in Kosciusko County. The Dollar General manager advised that she had observed a surveillance video showing a female, later identified as Zurzolo, select items and place them inside her purse. Zurzolo then reportedly passed all points of pay without paying for the items, valued at $54.25.
The manager further advised that Zurzolo later returned to the store and received a refund for three health-related items that she did not originally pay for. The officer spoke with Zurzolo, who stated she was sorry and asked if there was a way she could pay the money back to Dollar General.
Zurzolo was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Aug. 21, on a $2,750 surety and cash bond.
