Kenneth R. Walters
Kenneth R. Walters, 90, of rural Akron, passed away at midnight on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at Millers Merry Manor of Warsaw after being a resident for two weeks.
He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Kosciusko County to Roy O. and Nellie (Igo) Walters and married Erma J. Burkett on Aug. 13, 1949, in Rochester, who survives.
He was a farmer and a truck driver for North Central Co-op for 21 years.
He was a 1948 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. Kenny was known as an antique tractor enthusiast and had been in numerous parades. He also proudly displayed his Shetland ponies in many parades as well. He was a member of the Echoes from the Past Tractor Club of Kosciusko County. His favorite tractor in his collection was a 1938 Graham-Bradley. He also enjoyed and participated in tractor pulls, especially with his Super M. He had also been a past member of Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Erma of Akron; daughters: Debbie (John) Gray, Akron, LuAnn (Stan) Tennant, Warsaw and Lisa (Jerry) Jerry Kipker, Warsaw; grandchildren: Lori Busenburg, Jeff Gray, Mindy Bernicky, Brad Tennant and Brian Tennant; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-greatson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Letha Hamman and Helen Greer.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 West Rochester Street, Akron. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at the funeral home.
