In Your Own Words: Writing Group For Dementia Caregivers
WARSAW — Heartland Hospice is providing a unique workshop which offers a safe place where dementia caregivers can explore their feelings through writing, whether you are still a caregiver or your loved one has died.
The writing workshop will be held at the First United Methodist Church, located at 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw. Workshops will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Workshops will also be held at the same time on Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26.
Participants will have the opportunity to write about what matters most to them, such as their dreams, fears, needs, remembrances, and longings.
No writing experience is required. Participants will write as though they are talking to a best friend, in their own voice. Writers will be guided every step of the way with thought-provoking prompts designed to free words and help find fresh ways of viewing life and its experiences. Participants will also have the opportunity to share writing with the group. Writing helps people find a deeper meaning and sometimes a sense of order out of chaos. This time is for people to settle and let their thoughts flow on paper.
Pre-registration is required. For more information, please contact Deb Guy at (260) 409-4291.
