KOSCIUSKO — Just because school is back in session doesn’t mean the summer fun needs to stop. There are seven great events happening throughout Kosciusko County this weekend.
The Oakwood Resort Fine Arts Festival in Syracuse goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. This annual, family-friendly event brings artists from all over and gives the community the opportunity to experience and purchase art in a casual, outdoor setting. Along with fine art, attendees can enjoy live music, food, wine and kid’s art activities. This event is free to attend.
Canal Days in Winona Lake is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 at The Village at Winona. This event features craft, art booths, kid’s activities and food vendors. A cardboard boat race takes place along the canal at 12:30 p.m. This event is free to attend.
The Heirloom Tomato Festival in Pierceton is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Brower Park. This event is a celebration of sustainable agriculture and going green. Entertainment includes an agricultural art show, a 5K run/walk, food and more. This event is free to attend.
The Rotors over Mentone Fly-In is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum. Vietnam pilot and author Phil Marshall will share his experience flying non-armed rescue missions at 11 a.m. Bring the family out for lunch, tour the museum, see helicopters up close and take a ride. This event is free to attend.
Tippy Creek Winery, Leesburg, is hosting a balloon glow from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. This is a charity event benefitting Magical Meadows, a therapeutic riding program for children, youth and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities. There will also be live music and food and boutique trucks. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for additional seating. There is a $2 admission fee.
Camp Mack in Milford is hosting a Sunday Summer Nature Outing from 2 to 4 p.m. Explore the camp’s five acres of natural prairie area. Get a look at unique plants including bluestem grasses, indigo, rattlesnake master and more. This event is free and attendees are encouraged to bring a snack to share.
Don’t forget to ride the Dixie Sternwheeler in North Webster. Rides are available both Saturday and Sunday. Cruises last approximately 75 minutes and tickets are $7. The season runs through Labor Day Weekend.
