Genavee Snavely
Genavee “Genny” Snavely, 79, Wabash, died at 6 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at her home. She was born April 11, 1939, in Akron, to Paul and Aletha (Clinker) Cox.
She was a 1957 graduate of Akron High School. She married Thomas R. Snavely in Wabash Feb. 28, 1958. She worked at Wagner’s, Wabash, Magnetics, 25 years at Clark’s Grocery, and Bechtol’s Grocery for five years. She also volunteered at the Dallas Winchester Senior Center in Wabash for 12 years.
She enjoyed walking in the woods, fishing, gardening, and canning her garden produce. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Genny Snavely is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Snavely; daughter, Cora (Mike) Hall; two grandchildren, Tom (Ashley) Hall, and Katie (Chris) Crace; and four great grandchildren, Maddison Hall, Aiden Hall, Cora Crace, and Tinsley Crace, all of Wabash; brother, Floyd Cox, Akron; seven sisters: Mary Etta Basham, Mishawaka; Helen Cox, Wabash; Pauline Meyer, North Manchester; Willodean Zolman, Columbia City; Patsy Carpenter, Rochester; Jean Kirby, Greentown; and Jane Spratt, Silver Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Harold Cox, William Cox, Earl Cox, Milton Cox, and Dale Cox; two sisters, Juanita Cox, and Gail Grabel; and grandson, Mickey Hall.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 27, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Dallas Winchester Senior Center or Wabash County 4-H.
