Where’s The Beef: North Webster Man Hides Steaks In Pants
NORTH WEBSTER — A North Webster man is facing charges after allegedly being caught stealing by putting steaks in his pants.
Jason Wayne Elijah, 44, 121 E. Esterbrook Drive, North Webster, is being charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 7, an officer with the North Webster Police Department responded to a theft that took place at New Market Grocery. The officer spoke with a manager, who provided surveillance video showing a male, identified by the officer as Elijah, concealing steaks inside his pants.
Elijah then passed through all points of sale and left the store without paying for the steaks.
Elijah was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 18, on a $2,750 surety and cash bond.
