Ronald Lee Brandenburg
Ronald Lee Brandenburg, 55, Warsaw, went to be with the Lord after a courageous, two-year battle with cancer at 7:58 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at his home. He was born on May 13, 1963, in Columbia City to Emery and Carole (Hubbard) Brandenburg.
He will be most remembered for his great love of the game of basketball. Whether it was watching and discussing his Duke Blue Devils with his friends or helping to coach youth to reach their potential, his passion for basketball continued throughout his entire life. Many remember watching the “iron five” play in 1981 and go on to win a sectional, regional and semi-state championship. Among other honors, he was an Indiana All-Star and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 as part of the 2006 Indiana Silver Anniversary Team. After graduating from Warsaw Community High School in 1981, he continued his basketball career at Augusta University and Trine University.
He was employed at DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction for 29 years in the manufacturing area.
Ron Brandenburg is survived by his wife of 28 years, Katrina Brandenburg; his beloved children who made him so very proud: Courtney (Gauge) McPeak, Warsaw; Cara Brandenburg, Russiaville; and Cameron Brandenburg, Indianapolis; his precious grandson, Bryson; one sister, Bambi (Scott) Maggard, North Manchester; one brother, Chad (Barb) Brandenburg, Elkhart; and three half- sisters, Brenda Ayala, Indianapolis; JoAnn (Mike) Ball, Warsaw; and Tammy Brandenburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Emery in March of this year.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, Tuesday, Aug. 21. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, with calling one hour prior to the service in McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Pfiefer officiating.
