DEKALB INVITATIONAL
NorthWood’s boys tennis team won the championship at the DeKalb Invitational Saturday, earning championships at four positions on the way to 38 points ahead of host Angola’s 24.
Wes Troyer won the championship at 1 singles with three straight-set wins — 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6(3) — and Ben Vincent did likewise at 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1. Landon Holland collected a trio of wins at 3 singles — 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2 — on his way to the title there, while Trajan Schwartz and Jack Wysong combined for wins of 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-1 for the 1 doubles championship.
Grant Topping and Dawson Bley lost their opener 6-4, 6-2 but bounced back with a 6-3, 6-2, 12-10 win and an 8-5 victory in the fifth place match.
LEWIS CASS 5, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
Tippecanoe Valley fell 5-0 to Lewis Cass Saturday.
Payton Mills lost 8-4, Connor Frentzel fell 8-1, and Ethan Yates and Jeremy Landis were beaten 8-1.
The Vikings forfeited at the other two positions.
