Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:04 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, Lake City Highway, east of South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Keny H. Castillo, 37, West Hively Avenue, Elkhart; and Jarod I. Barber, 19, East Riviera Drive, Warsaw. Castillo was unable to recall the events prior to, at the time or just after the crash. He was evaluated by medics and transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for further evaluation. Barber advised that Castillo was traveling eastbound on Lake City Highway and did not stop for the red light, resulting in Castillo’s vehicle striking Barber’s vehicle as Barber was about to make a left turn onto Lake City Highway from South CR 250E. Damage up to $10,000.
8:32 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, North Washington Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jemina J. Fugate, 18, North Scott Street, Warsaw; and Esther V. Sanchez, 39, North CR 175E, Warsaw. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $5,000.
6:47 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: John L. Greenwood, 67, P.O. Box 643, Warsaw; and Alicia W. Taylor, 59, East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Greenwood’s vehicle struck Taylor’s vehicle as he was attempting to pull into a parking space. Damage up to $2,500.
5:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, North Harrison Street, Warsaw. Driver: Analyn R. Wright, 45, Copeland Street, Warsaw. Wright stated she was teaching the two passengers in her vehicle how to drive in the parking lot at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Wright advised she turned too quickly, lost control and struck a parked vehicle. She said she then hit the gas instead of the brakes after she struck the parked vehicle, resulting in her vehicle striking a light pole. Damage up to $10,000.
3:32 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, Husky Trail and Whitetail Run, Warsaw. Drivers: Braxton K. Minix, 19, Kuder Lane, Warsaw; Alexandar R. Brower, 21, Heron Blvd., Warsaw; and Bryan S. Brooks, 50, Husky Trail, Warsaw. Minix’s vehicle rear-ended Brooks’ vehicle while Brooks was stopped and attempting to turn right. Minix advised that his brakes failed. Minix’s vehicle was then rear-ended by Brower’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
3:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, East Smith Street and South Scott Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Louis D. Gervais, 23, Henderson Drive, Warsaw; and Brynn M. Durecki, 19, Stone Camp Trail, Winona Lake. Gervais advised a passenger in his vehicle was talking to him and he had looked at her. He did not realize that Durecki’s vehicle had stopped at a crosswalk to let students cross the roadway. Gervais’ vehicle rear-ended Durecki’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
