Viola V. Vanover
Viola V. Vanover, 97, Syracuse, passed away at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Mason Healthcare & Rehab in Warsaw. She was born on March 28, 1921 in Wheeling, W. Va. to Pete and Vade Pocholec.
She attended public school in Pound, Va. and was married on April 15, 1941, in Pound, Va. to Oakley O. Vanover who preceded her on Dec. 28, 2006. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at United States Postal Service in Pound, Va. for five years. She lived in Pound, Va. most of her life until she moved to Syracuse in 2005.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pound, Va.
She is survived by her daughter: Frances (Charles) Troup, Wyandotte, Mich.; three sons: Oakley (Louann) Vanover and Carl (Ellen) Vanover, both of Syracuse; and Dennis (Elaine) Vanover, Cromwell; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sisters: Polly and Jessie Pocholec, and two brothers: Lonnie and John Pocholec.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, at Crouse Cemetery, Powers Dr., Pound, Va.
