North Webster Chamber Seeks Board Nominations
NORTH WEBSTER — “North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its board of directors,” stated President Jim Smith at the regular monthly membership meeting Monday, Aug. 13, at the chamber office in the Tippecanoe Township Building.
Nominations can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to P.O. Box 19, North Webster, IN 46555. Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Sept. 4, the day after Labor Day. There are five board seats up for election this year as well as the vice-president position.
Nominated at the meeting were Brenda Peterson, Linda Land and Mindy Scaggs. Amanda Meerzo was nominated for vice president.
Nominees will be asked if they want to serve. The list of members is in the 2018-19 edition of the North Webster Community Guide available inside the West Washington Street door of the chamber office, North Webster NewMarket and North Webster Ace Hardware.
Terms for the board are two years and the board meets with the membership on the second Monday of each month. It is a volunteer position. Board members are expected to serve on a Dixie Day Festival committee as well.
A Third Thursday event was approved at the meeting. Member businesses and organizations will have a opportunity to host an after hours networking event beginning Thursday, Sept. 20. It consists of Scaggs, Smith, Meerzo and Martha Stoelting. Scaggs also reported more ribbon cuttings are coming up.
Smith thanked everyone for their hard work making the Dixie Day Festival a success. There was a record turnout and many positive comments.
Indiana State Festivals Association membership is to be renewed by Aug. 31. Listing in the festival booklet brings many visitors to the Dixie Day Festival. Thank you letters for donations to the Webster Lake Conservation Association for fireworks and to the North Webster Community Center were received and passed around.
Payment to the chamber scholarship winner was discussed. It had previously been approved. The recipient keeps up the chamber sign on the south end of town.
The next meeting of the chamber will be held noon Monday, Sept. 10, at the chamber office, 102 S. Morton St.
After the meeting a wrap up of the Dixie Day Festival was held by Chairman Terry Frederick. Each committee reported with notes made for improvements for next year. The 11th annual Dixie Day Festival will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019. It always happens the last Saturday of July.
