Tigers Shut Out Carroll
WARSAW – The soccer season started out well for the Warsaw boys, posting a 2-0 win over Fort Wayne Carroll.
The Tigers took advantage of an immediate opportunity, with Brad O’Cock getting fouled just outside the Charger 18-yard box. Jorge Rico took the spot kick and buried the chance on target, sending the Tigers to a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the match.
Another free kick from 25 yards out by Tedros Berelsman in the 63rd minute found its way to Jose Lara, who headed his chance into the back of the net for the two-goal advantage.
Harrison Mevis collected his first clean sheet of the season with four saves between the pipes.
Warsaw, ranked No. 13 in the preseason Class 3-A poll, will visit 1-A No. 13 Argos on Tuesday.
