Leesburg Man Faces Charges After Minor Is Struck With A Lighter
LEESBURG — A Leesburg man is facing charges after an incident in which a child less than 14 years of age was struck in the head with a lighter.
Timothy Michael Grevenstuk, 38, 44 EMS B6 Lane, Leesburg, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Thursday, Aug. 9, on a $3,500 surety and cash bond. He is being charged with battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, a level 5 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 19, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by a Huntington police officer in reference to a minor being battered by Grevenstuk.
The Huntington police officer stated that he was contacted by a male who advised he found a laceration and dried blood on the minor. The officer reportedly spoke with the minor, who said that Grevenstuk had thrown a lighter at him, striking him in the head. The officer viewed photos taken of the minor’s head and observed a laceration with dried blood. The minor reportedly stated that Grevenstuk had battered him in the past, although no other individuals had witnessed this.
Officers conducted interviews with Grevenstuk and a female. The female stated she was not present in the room when the minor was struck in the head with the lighter.
