Kosciusko Community YMCA Announces New Cheer Team
WARSAW — This fall, the Kosciusko Community YMCA will be offering its cheer team for the second year.
The YMCA’s Warsaw Legacy Elite team will be for athletes five to 14 years of age based on age and skill level. The team will take place from August to April, with the registration and evaluation for team placement being from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Cheer participants will need to be present for both sessions.
Teams will have one team practice and one tumbling and stunt practice each week. They’ll learn a competitive cheer routine which includes tumbling, jumping, stunting and dance and will then compete from January through April.
No previous experience is necessary to join. The Warsaw Legacy Elite emphasizes fun, skill acquisition and teamwork. Participants must be Y members.
This year for the first time, the Y will also be offering CheerAbilities, a cheerleading team for those ages five and up with special needs. Starting Oct. 6, the team will have one practice each week and two competitions in February and March.
