Darlene Sue Sprague
Darlene Sue Sprague, 66, of Ligonier, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Avalon Village in Ligonier.
She was born in Noble County on Nov. 15, 1951, the daughter of Adrian and Orpha (Weade) Sprague.
Sprague was a lifetime area resident, attended the Church of the Nazarene, and worked for The Arc for years. She also volunteered as the door greeter at Avalon Village, consistently bringing a smile to those who came and went. Sprague always had a positive attitude and was a blessing to all who were privileged to know her. She was very talented in making crafts and created all sorts of neat projects from checkerboards to coasters. In recent years she loved to carefully craft and then give away canvas keepsake boxes.
In addition to her extended family of caregivers and friends at Avalon Village, Darlene is survived by a sister and her best friend, Marlene (Fred) Riley of Ligonier; nieces, Amy (Joe) Weaver of Ligonier, Anita (Kevin) Courtright of Rome City, Tracy (Dennis) Black of Butler, Kimberly Harringer of Elkhart, and Teresa Velazquez of Kendallville; a nephew, Kevin (Darcie) Sprague of Hicksville, Ohio; along with numerous great nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Allen Sprague, Stanley Sprague, Richard Sprague, Roger Sprague and Harold Sprague.
A funeral service will be held in Darlene’s honor at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug.6, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. Pastor John Lutton will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 1-5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, at Yeager Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to family.
