Etna Green Man Sentenced For Storage Unit Burglary
KOSCIUSKO — An Etna Green man was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior One Court Thursday, Aug. 2, after burglarizing multiple storage units.
William Garrett Shultz, 26, 9205 W. CR 125N, Etna Green, was charged with burglary, a level 5 felony.
On July 29, 2017, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary and theft report at Affordable Storage Units. The owner said multiple units had the locks cut off. One unit had electronic devices stolen from it. The devices were valued at more than $750.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, surveillance video showed Shultz and three other male subjects, identified as Frank McGuire, Phillip Hoover, and Jake Waddle, committing the burglaries at the storage units.
Defense attorney Benjamin Vanderpool said Shultz only has one prior offense and requested a probationary period.
Judge David Cates noted that Shultz’s prior offense was a felony. He sentenced Shultz to two years in the Kosciusko County Jail. One year was suspended and will be served on probation.
