Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
2:53 a.m. Monday, July 23, South CR 900W, near South CR 700W, Claypool. Driver: Eric W. Kelley, 44, South Peru Road, Silver Lake. Kelley was traveling east on CR 900W when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
2:38 a.m. Monday, July 23, West CR 900S, west of South CR 825W, Claypool. Driver: Shanna N. Hendrix, 17, South CR 750W, Claypool. Hendrix was traveling east on CR 900S when she lost control of her moped. Hendrix sustained minor abrasions to her right elbow and right foot, complaining of head pain. Hendrix’s father arrived to the scene and said he would transport Hendrix to the hospital. Damage up to $1,000.
8:23 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 5793 East Pickwick Road, Syracuse. Driver: Chad M. Wooten, 35, East Park Street, Syracuse. Wooten was backing his vehicle in a parking lot and didn’t notice the vehicle behind him. Damage up to $2,500.
1:55 a.m. Sunday, July 22, South SR 15, south of West CR 400S, Warsaw. Driver: Parker S. Harner, 22, Michigan Street, Wabash. Harner was traveling south on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. His vehicle then went off the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Harner’s vehicle then continued to drive south in a field and collided with two fence posts. Damage up to $25,000.
6:04 p.m. Saturday, July 21, East Eli Lilly Road, east of North Warner Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Kevin R. Mears, 17, North Long Drive, Syracuse; and Jeanne M. Browne, 76, Bay Woods Lake Drive 101, Fort Myers, Fla. Mears was traveling east on Eli Lilly Road when he attempted to go around Browne’s vehicle. He rear-ended her vehicle. Browne complained of chest pain and was checked out by Turkey Creek Ambulance at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
7:53 a.m. Saturday, July 21, West CR 400S, west of South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: David C. Hays, 32, South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Hays was traveling east on CR 400S when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
5:34 p.m. Friday, July 20, East Old Road 30, near South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Mitchell C. Burdette, 25, North CR 500W, Ligonier; and Donna L. Sherman, 54, North CR 325E, Warsaw. Burdette was traveling west on East Old US 30 when he attempted to turn left onto South CR 250E, striking Sherman’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
9:25 a.m. Friday, July 20, South SR 15, south of West CR 400S, Warsaw. Driver: Ashley D. Shepherd, 28, South Courtland Park Drive, Silver Lake. Shepherd was traveling north on SR 15 when she observed a male on a bike. Shepherd’s vehicle swerved to the right into a ditch. Damage under $750.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:07 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 706 North Dolan Drive, south of North Main Street, Syracuse. Driver: unknown. A parked, unoccupied vehicle was hit in the middle of the night. The driver is unknown at this time. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:47 a.m. Monday, July 23, East US 30, west of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Driver: William J. Young, 47, Camden Court, Huntington. Young was traveling east on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
12:59 p.m. Sunday, July 22, North Detroit Street, south of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Jonathan C. Craft, 16, East CR 500S, Warsaw; and Rachale A. Bragg, 37, North Columbia Street, Warsaw. Craft was traveling south on Detroit Street when traffic slowed. His vehicle rear-ended Bragg’s vehicle. Bragg complained of pain in her knee and planned to get medically cleared by a local doctor. Damage up to $5,000.
6:28 p.m. Saturday, July 21, East Winona Avenue, east of South Indiana Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Hunter A. Lane, 18, North 1st Street, Warsaw; and Rhonda J. Schifferl, 59, West CR 100S 9, Warsaw. Lane was traveling east on East Winona Avenue when he rear-ended Schifferl’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2:01 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2856 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Leslie R. Baker, 31, South Packerton Road, Winona Lake; and John C. Justice, 64, West Main Street 421, Warsaw. Baker’s vehicle was exiting a parking lot via an access road when she struck Justice’s vehicle. Justice sustained abrasions to his face and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
6:53 p.m. Friday, July 20, US 30, east of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Aubrey A. Lenz, 24, North CR 600E, Montpelier; and Sofianos Hasapis, 51, Cameron Plaza, Valparaiso. Lenz was traveling west on US 30 when she attempted to go into the left lane of travel. She didn’t notice Hasapis’ vehicle traveling next to her in the left lane. Damage up to $5,000.
5:23 p.m. Friday, July 20, East Center Street, west of South Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael D. Fuqua, 41, East S.C. Street, Gas City; and Carrie E. Cooksey, 43, West Main Street, Silver Lake. Fuqua was traveling west on East Center Street when he rear-ended Cooksey’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
9:05 a.m. Friday, July 20, Market Street, east of Argonne Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Adam L. Patrick, 22, South Hackney Drive, Columbia City; and Milton M. Ryerson, 89, Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake. Patrick’s vehicle was stopped at a stop sign preparing to make a left turn onto East Market Street when something broke on the front driver’s side tire. This caused Patrick’s vehicle to pull out in front of Ryerson’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:10 p.m. Saturday, July 21, Pierceton Road, near CR 275E, Winona Lake. Drivers: Mikaela J. Crate, 25, North Walnut Street, North Manchester; and Tricia M. Johnson, 37, East CR 400N, Pierceton. Crate’s vehicle was at a stop sign when she proceeded to pull into the roadway and struck the side of Johnson’s vehicle. Johnson complained of neck, side and arm pain. A passenger in Johnson’s vehicle, Bethany Johnson, 16, complained of left arm pain. Both refused medical treatment at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
