Claypool Man Arrested On Battery Charges
CLAYPOOL — A Claypool man is facing charges after a physical altercation with another male.
Cody Lane Runyon, 21, 9794 S. Pheasant Place, Claypool, is being charged with battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 30, an officer with the Winona Lake Police Department responded to the area of Bibler Avenue in reference to a physical altercation. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a male about what had occurred. The officer observed multiple injuries on the male, including a bloody nose, lacerations and a swollen ear.
The male stated that Runyon and Runyon’s father attacked him. He advised that both men were hitting and kicking him outside of his residence. The officer spoke with a female at the residence, who stated she observed Runyon hit the male multiple times with his fists. She advised she could not see Runyon’s father but could hear Runyon’s father telling Runyon to “Get him” multiple times while Runyon was hitting the male.
The officer contacted Runyon and his father at the Pheasant Place address. Runyon was observed to have small scratches on his hands. Runyon admitted that he informed his father he was going to the male subject’s house planning for an altercation and asked his father to come with him. Runyon admitted that the altercation did occur and that he used his fists to hit the male subject multiple times.
Runyon was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Saturday, June 30, on a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
