BREAKING: Storms Cause Widespread Damage In Silver Lake
SILVER LAKE — In the midst of both tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, the strong winds caused extreme damage in the Silver Lake area today, July 20.
Winds, that were reported to be as fast as 50 mph, brought down countless trees and power lines. The majority of the damage was seen in the Courtland Park area, on the west shoreline of Silver Lake.
Several residents reported that the tornado sirens went off after the damage had already occurred.
“We could see the storm coming across the lake,” said local resident Sarah Meade. “It was raining so hard water was coming under the door.”
No one was hurt but multiple homes were damaged by fallen trees and debris. Neighbors were out helping others clean up the mess.
Emergency responders from multiple departments in the county were out assessing the damage and beginning to clean up. A widespread area was out of power.
Further updates will be provided at a later time.
