Woman Arrested For Theft, Check Fraud
KOSCIUSKO — A woman was arrested for writing multiple fraud checks to a business in Nappanee to receive merchandise and cash back.
Rachel Leigh Druesedow, 35, with addresses in Argos and Walkerton, was booked for theft, a level 6 felony, and four counts of check fraud, class A misdemeanors.
On May 24, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department spoke with a representative of L & M Foods, Nappanee. The representative advised that Dreusdow came into L & M Foods on May 16, to purchase merchandise. Dreusdow wrote one check for $231.92 and another check for $340.70. Both checks were returned for nonsufficient funds.
On May 17, Druesedow came back into L & M Foods to purchase more merchandise. She wrote a check for $241.59 that was returned for nonsufficient funds.
On May 22, Druesedow returned to the store to purchase merchandise and wrote another check for $379.22. This check was presented to the bank and was refused due to insufficient funds.
The store representative advised that Druesedow would purchase merchandise and then add $100 to the check to receive $100 in cash.
The total amount of loss was $1,193.43.
Druesedow was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 14, with a $6,800 surety and cash bond.
