Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:40 p.m. Sunday, July 15, North Barbee Road, north of North CR 700E, Warsaw. Driver: Corrina A. Messick, 57, East Kiser Lake Drive, North Webster. Messick advised she swerved to avoid striking an animal in the road. Her vehicle struck an embankment and overturned, landing on its top. Damage up to $5,000.
10:55 p.m. Saturday, July 14, West CR 400N and North CR 200W, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua A. Cooley, 34, East North Street, Larwill; and Madyson N. Brown, 15, Simmons Street, Warsaw. Cooley was southbound on North CR 200W and came to a stop at the stop sign of the intersection. Cooley advised he thought the car heading westbound on CR 400N had a stop sign so he began to drive through the intersection, resulting in a collision with Brown’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
3:31 a.m. Saturday, July 14, East Steven Drive, west of South Cost-A-Plenty Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Michael M. Pappas, 18, North Brook Boulevard, Warsaw. Pappas was traveling south on CR 275E and intended to turn onto CR 225S but turned too soon and began to travel west on Steven Drive. Pappas did not realize he was not on CR 225S until he saw the dead end on Steven Drive. He applied his brakes but did not have enough time to stop before exiting the west side of Steven Drive. His vehicle struck a tree and then went into a creek. Damage up to $25,000.
6:24 p.m. Friday, July 13, North CR 400E, south of East CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Hunter A. Lane, 18, North 1st Street, Warsaw. Lane advised he was northbound on CR 400E when he saw another vehicle on his side of the roadway. He stated when he swerved to miss the other vehicle, he dropped his spit cup. When he reached for his spit cup, his vehicle went off the east side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. Damage up to $2,500.
4:04 p.m. Friday, July 13, SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Max C. Leiter, 96, East CR 850S, Claypool; and Conner J. Sherwin, 20, South CR 700E, Pierceton. Sherwin advised he was stopped on SR 13, preparing to turn let onto CR 675E. Leiter advised he was traveling southbound. He said his eyes had recently been dilated and he was having difficulty controlling his vehicle. He advised he did not see Sherwin’s vehicle stopped. The front passenger side of Leiter’s vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of Sherwin’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

9:00 a.m. Sunday, July 15, South County Farm Road and Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jaren M. Swihart, 24, South CR 875W, Claypool; and Nolan M. Swihart, 18, South Southwood Drive, Warsaw. Jaren Swihart’s vehicle rear-ended Nolan Swihart’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
10:04 a.m. Saturday, July 14, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Nathaniel Riegsecker, 24, Skyview Drive, Middlebury. Riegsecker advised he was backing his trailer out of a parking lot when his vehicle struck a parked car. Damage up to $2,500.
5:54 p.m. Friday, July 13, South Detroit Street, north of East Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Dominque S. Nelson, 24, South Main Street, Ligonier; and Cody J. Parrett, 17, North CR 450W, Columbia City. Nelson’s vehicle rear-ended Parrett’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:54 p.m. Friday, July 13, East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Kenneth B. King, 51, Wyss Ridge Drive, Fort Wayne. King advised he pulled into the Comfort Inn parking lot and made a turn and does not remember what happened after making the turn. The vehicle was located in the southeast corner of Ruby Tuesday. The vehicle had gone through a chain link fence and struck a dumpster. The driver was reported as being incoherent and was transferred to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical treatment. Damage up to $10,000.
4:27 p.m. Friday, July 13, East Center Street, east of North Reed Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua E. Shawver, 18, South Wolf Road, Columbia City; Shawn D. Hovenden, 20, East CR 700S, Claypool; and David M. VanDyke, 37, East CR 200N, Warsaw. Shawver’s vehicle rear-ended Hovenden’s vehicle, causing Hovenden’s vehicle to rear-end VanDyke’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
2:04 p.m. Friday, July 13, East Fort Wayne Street and North McKinley Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Shannon L. Stover, 44, North Warsaw-Oswego Road, Warsaw; and Christina D. Lindsey-Kinkade, 42, New Road, Mishawaka. Stover, who was approaching the intersection and did not see the stop sign for southbound traffic, proceeded through the intersection, resulting in Stover’s vehicle striking Lindsey-Kinkade’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
12:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, West Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Nidhi Choudhary, 26, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. When Choudhary backed her vehicle out of a parking space, the right bumper of her vehicle impacted the left rear bumper of a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
