Utter Awarded Kurt Miller Scholarship
AKRON — As the county fair winds down this week, Tippecanoe Valley High School fondly remembers and honors student Kurt Miller and his family.
Miller passed away at 17 three years ago as a result of a garden tractor accident, but had previously given back to his community by being a junior firefighter for the Burket Volunteer Fire Department. He was actively involved in the Tippecanoe Valley FFA and Beaver Dam 4-H Club.
The Tippecanoe Valley student cared deeply about agriculture and his community. The inaugural scholarship presented late this spring honored a TVHS student who displays the same values that Miller had in his lifetime. The scholarship namesake was the son of Kyle and Melinda Miller.
The 2018 Kurt Miller Scholarship recipient is Jack Utter. Utter will be attending Purdue University to study Agribusiness Management. He is the son of Jack and Tammy Utter.
Contributions to the fund are still welcomed and can be made care of Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 102 E Market Street, Warsaw, IN 46580. Write “Kurt Miller Ag Scholarship” in the memo line of your check. Gifts can also be made online at www.KCFoundation.org/Donate.
