Russell Edwin Reichard
Russell Edwin Reichard, 84, rural Rochester, passed away on June 28, 2018 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, after battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome, unspecified/Myelofibrosis since November 2016.
Reichard was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Aubbeenaubbee Township, Fulton County, to Paul Clinton and Marie (Bussard) Reichard. He resided on the family farms most of his life, lastly on the one that was divided off when new State Road 17 was constructed in 1959-60.
Reichard was first married to Beverly B. Lamdkin on Aug. 20, 1954, in South Bend. They later divorced and she
died Jan. 16, 1973. They had one daughter together. Reichard later married Mariea Ann Link on Sept. 3, 1960, in Pulaski County. She has been a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, since Dec. 3, 2004. Together they had four children.
He was a dairy farmer in Aubbeenaubee Township and a truck driver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Chapter 741 of Plymouth. He was also a former member of the Eagles 323 of Logansport, Winamac 2580, and Culver 3321: while there he served in various offices of the club. To many of the Logansport Eagle members he was affectionately called and will be remembered simply as “Grand Dad”.
Until he took ill, he enjoyed going to hear the local bands, especially 350 South.
He is survived by his wife Mariea of Culver; their children: Paul Clinton Reichard II of rural Kewanna, Eddie Leroy of Logansport, Dawn Marie Wolfe of Kewanna, and Lori Lea (Kenneth) Swafford of rural Rochester: his daughter with Beverly-Denise Joy (Braden G) Chandler of Rochester; grandchildren Kevin A, Ian M, Fayette F, and Shelby L. Swafford; Raymond J and Jessie A. Wolfe, Jason L & Jeremy R Grube; as well as numerous great-and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by special friend of the family and caregiver Judith E. Burns.
There will be a private family viewing with graveside services at the IOOF Cemetery, Leiters Ford, at a
later date.
