Warsaw Man Arrested For Burglary, Theft
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after police say he stole $5,825 in one dollar coins from a residence.
Ridley Lee Brown, 38, 502 Oldfather St., Warsaw, is being charged with burglary, a level 4 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony.
On May 1, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a burglary. A homeowner advised he had left his home to run errands. When the homeowner returned, he noticed that two containers containing $5,825 in one dollar coins were missing. The homeowner received a phone call from an individual stating that while he was walking his dog, he saw Brown leaving the homeowner’s residence.
On May 17, the officer received an email from Horizon Bank advising that Brown had opened an account on May 3, using $100 in one dollar coins and cashed $3,432 in dollar coins into paper money. Video surveillance from the bank confirmed that Brown was the individual who opened the account and cashed the coins.
Brown was booked into the Kosciusko County Jai on July 7, $15,250 surety and cash bond.
