Warsaw Amtgard Group Holds Combat Tournament
WARSAW — Over the weekend, Kosciusko County was under an excessive heat warning. But that didn’t stop the local Amtgard group from equipping their boffer weapons and shields for some intense combat.
On Saturday, June 30, members of Sun Moon Passe, the Amtgard park in Warsaw, hosted a combat tournament that included members of several parks from northern Indiana, including Valparaiso and Huntington. All of the parks are part of a larger group known as The Grand Duchy of Lochaven.
Amtgard is a live-action fantasy roleplaying, or LARPing, game where players engage in combat similar to that of medieval times. Players use padded weapons and shields, with many dressing up in costumes that are medieval in style.
More than 30 members attended the event and participated in two main events. One event focused on combat, while the other focused on skills in different areas of craftsmanship.
The local group in Warsaw meets at 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Center Lake park.
