Thomas E. Krill
Thomas E. Krill, 75, rural Columbia City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at 10:40 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1941, in Fort Wayne, a son of the late David C. and Louella C. (Lebrenz) Krill. His formative years were spent in Thorncreek Twp. He attended Columbia City High School.
On Sept. 1, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia A. Braun. They made their home in Fort Wayne. For the past 28 years, they have lived in the Crooked Lake area.
For 57 years, he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers operating heavy equipment throughout the area. He loved his work and often used the heavy equipment to help his friends and neighbors on his off-time.
He enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing. He was an accomplished mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia; a daughter, Jodi L. Dalton, Columbia City; two sons, Daniel D. (Leslie) Krill and Dennis Krill, both of Columbia City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jack and Charles Krill and a sister, Phyllis Jean Krill.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the South Park Annex Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Humane Society of Whitley County or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
