Karol Elayne Dimmick
Karol Elayne Dimmick, 81, formerly of South Whitley, died at 8:09 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Sunday.
She was born May 18, 1937, in Dunkirk, a daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Esther (Courtney) Uhrick. As a daughter of a Methodist minister, they moved every few years throughout her childhood. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1955.
On Aug. 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to James A. Dimmick. They lived in South Whitley for a brief period before moving to Fort Wayne. Since 1972, they lived in South Whitley. Mr. Dimmick died Oct. 26, 2013. For the past year, she resided in Fort Wayne.
During the mid-1970s, she worked for North American Van Lines until the mid-1980s. She then worked for Gripco and Stumps Printing, South Whitley for several years. She finished her work career at Whitko Schools as a teachers’ aid for 6 years.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed crochet and cross stitch.
She is survived by her four children: Timothy Dimmick, South Whitley; Nicholas L. Dimmick, Syracuse; Jill Lombari, Fort Wayne; and Patrick R. (Wendy) Dimmick, Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Uhrick.
The funeral service is 3 p.m. Friday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial is in the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
