Heartline’s I Decide For Me Program Educates Local Students
KOSCIUSKO — By partnering with local schools, Heartline Pregnancy Center facilitates healthy relationships.
Since launching the I Decide For Me program in January, Heartline Pregnancy Center has worked with more than 150 students to provide information on healthy lifestyles and relationships. Heartline representatives have visited Wawasee High School twice in recent months to present sexual health education to students.
“I believe deeply in the power of education,” says Kristen Dhaemers, client services director at Heartline. “Investing in youth is vital for laying a foundation and empowering them with knowledge and choices early on [in high school].”
The information students receive through the I Decide For Me program equips them to make informed decisions in their relationships. Students spend a week with Heartline facilitators learning how their choices affect their future plans and how to build healthy relationships.
Heartline hopes to expand I Decide For Me into other area high schools to give more students the crucial information the program offers.
Heartline is dedicated to combating generational and situational poverty through a variety of programs, working to empower and equip men and women in the community who are involved with an unplanned pregnancy.
